RIDDIM Squad, Western Tigers and GFC all were victorious on the most recent night of the Petra-organised Corona Invitational Football tournament at the GFC ground on Sunday evening.
In the first game, Riddim Squad had to tussle for their win against East Veldt, the score line reading 2-1 at the final whistle.
East Vedlt had opened the scoring in the 26th minute through Michael Charles and held the lead throughout the first half and a part of the second before Dorville Stewart (61st) brought the game level.
It stayed that way until Stewart slotted home three minutes later to give Riddim Squad the lead for the first time in the match, and the eventual winners never looked back.
In Game two, Camptown FC suffered an absolute rout at the hands of Western Tigers FC 3-0. Andrew Murray’s brace (23rd and 63rd) along with Phillip Rowley’s 65th minute strike showed the Tigers’ hunting prowess.
In the final game, the same score line stood tall as GFC railroaded the Police.
Benjamin Opera’s 13th minute strike was enough to give GFC the lead and Dwayne Robeiro continued the party with two more goals in the 23rd and 74th minutes.
The tournament resumes on Friday.
