THE Rotary Club of Georgetown has installed a new Board of Directors,and inaugurated its 59th President, Clyde De Haas.
The directors took up their official positions during an installation ceremony held at the Guyana Marriott Hotel on June 30, 2017, under the theme, “Rotary: Making A Difference.”
In his address, President De Haas promised that the Rotary Year 2017/2018 will be a successful one while expressing confidence in the new board’s ability to help Rotary ‘Make a Difference,’ through the expanse of youth and the wealth of experience.
He reassured the gathering that the club will continue to strengthen communities through various projects, many of which are underserved areas.
These projects include the drilling of a new water well in the community of Old England in Linden, the distribution of maternity-care packages, a community outreach programme in the Yarrowkabra area, the refurbishment of a Toy Library at the Linden Branch of the National Library, and the construction of a walkway for the children at the Bal Nivas Children’s Shelter in Berbice.
Serving with President Clyde are President-Elect Harrinand Persaud, Vice- President Peter Peroune, Immediate Past President Lisa Foster, Board Secretary Alvina Rambarran, and Treasurer George Edwards. The Committee Directors are Administration Amanda Persaud, Foundation Roger Harper, Public Relations Ariane Mangar, Service Projects Pearson Burch-Smith, Membership Ramona Singh, New Generations Natasha Backer and Sergeant-at-Arms Harryram Parmesar.
