THE Region Two Administration on Tuesday donated five boats and engines to representatives of the Health and Education Departments of the region as it continues to execute its mandate in providing quality service to residents.

During a simple ceremony, Regional Executive Officer (REO), Derrick Persaud, advised that the beneficiaries make full use of the resources and ensure that they remain custodian of the operation and maintenance of the equipment.

Similar sentiments were expressed by Mr. Deodath Persaud, District Educational Officer, as well as Regional Health Officer, Dr. Afarah Khan, who were both present.

Three boats and engines were given to the Department of Health and will serve in the Pomeroon districts of Hackney, Karawab and Marlborough.

According to the Regional Health Officer, Dr. Afarah Khan, the availability of the equipment will improve the quality of service to the Riverain communities, including providing anti-natal and post-natal services to mothers, as well as providing emergency referrals of patients to the coastland.

The other two boats will serve in the vicinity of Bethany Annex and Dredge Creek and according to the District Education Officer, Deodath Singh, will immensely improve the attendance of students and their grades.
