GUYANA’S One Star boxing referee/judge Romona Agard created history recently by becoming the first Guyanese referee/judge to be selected to officiate in the South American Youth Championships which is scheduled for Chile during the month of September.
Agard was notified of the accomplishment by way of a letter from the America’s Boxing Confederation (AMBC).

The experienced official said she is elated to be recognised by the AMBC who has recognised the hard work she has been doing over the years.
She also extended gratitude to her husband Menard Wilson (also a referee), as well as Guyana Boxing Associations president Steve Ninvalle and other executives of the GBA for their support.

Agard, the chairperson of the GBA’s Referee/Judge Commission, gained her One Star badge last December following success at examinations in Barbados after the GBA paved the way for her and Richard Braithwaite to attend courses there.
