THE decomposed body of a woman found on a dam at New Road, Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara (WCD) on Monday was identified on Thursday as Patricia Ronald, 49, of Crane Housing scheme WCD, police have confirmed.
The body was identified by the woman’s sister with whom she resides in Crane.
Reports indicate that Ronald was a psychiatric patient for the last 10 years and she left her sister’s home on Monday to go to Georgetown and was never seen again.
A post-mortem is expected to be performed Friday.
Initial reports suggested that Ronald was found clad in a blue short pants and yellow jersey. There were marks of violence on her face and a dark-silver and black ‘Nine West’ shoulder bag was found next to her body.
The police also found a pair of pink rubber slippers. In the bag there was a handkerchief, a pack of cigarettes, sweets, sugar, tablets, and pieces of white paper that resemble a hospital’s prescription.
It is alleged that the woman was last seen by persons consuming alcohol at the Vreed-en-Hoop Stelling on Sunday.
