Bus driver to stand trial for attempted murder

A 48-year-old minibus driver was on Monday committed to stand trial in the High Court by City Magistrate, Judy Latchman for attempted murder.
Cayson Clementson of North Ruimveldt, Georgetown was informed by Magistrate Latchman on Monday that a Prima Facie case was made out against him for the indictable offence, which alleged that October 31, 2016 at Lodge, Georgetown, with intent to commit murder, he wounded Andre Phillips.
During the preliminary inquiry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, several police officers and civilians were called to testify by police prosecutor, Vishnu Hunt. Clementson was represented by attorney, Mark Waldron who during yesterday’s court hearing made a no-case submission which was overruled by Magistrate Latchman.
The 48-year-old man will remain on remand. According to reports, Clementson was in a relationship with the child-mother of the victim. On the day in question the men were involved in a heated argument when Clementon became annoyed and stabbed Phillips to his neck with a knife. Phillips was picked up in an unconscious state and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
