THE one-day version of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB)/ Hand-in-Hand Mutual Fire Insurance Company Limited-sponsored under-19 Inter-County cricket competition bowls off today with two matches from 09:30hrs
Today’s first round is set for the Police Sports Club ground where Demerara will face the Select Under-17 team, while at the Everest Cricket Club ground, Berbice will oppose Essequibo.
The competition is being used as a yardstick by the junior selectors to pick the Guyana team for the West Indies Cricket Board’s (WICB) Regional under-19 competition scheduled for later this year.
The competition, which will be played on a round robin basis, is expected to be keenly contested.
Round two will be played on Wednesday, with Berbice facing Demerara at the National Stadium, Providence, and Essequibo playing the Select Under-17 at the Police ground in Eve Leary.

The third round is scheduled for Thursday, with Demerara opposing Essequibo at the National Stadium, Providence, and Berbice facing the Select Under-17 at Everest.
The top two teams will play the final on Friday at the National Stadium, Providence.
The three-day format will commence on June 6 and concludes on June 16. Below are the four squads that will compete in the tournament.
