THE recently formed Cold Fusion Cricket Club of Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo, made an auspicious start in their first-ever competitive cricket match, thrashing Everest Cricket Club in their own backyard in a feature tapeball match, played last weekend at the Camp Road, Georgetown venue.

The 20/20 Under-17 game, which replaced the original 40-over encounter due to inclement weather, saw Cold Fusion win the toss and insert their opponents.
Everest could muster only 108 all out in 13.2 overs with Hemant Dilip being the main scorer with 22 while extras tallied a healthy 40. Chitram Persaud claimed four for 13 and received excellent support from Kenny Holder (three for 17) and Vishal Prashad (three for 15).
Cold Fusion achieved the required total in 14.3 overs with Trevin Mohabir leading the way with an attractive 53 while Sanjay Charrandeen made 16. Ariel Tilku was Everest’s best bowler with three for 15.

Among those in attendance were several members of Cold Fusion senior team while its president Bhudnarine Persaud was also at the presentation ceremony to greet his players on the resounding victory on their debut.
Meanwhile, Persaud is expressing sincere thanks to those entities and individuals who played a great part in acquiring gear for the club. Among them are New York-based former Guyana Under-19 player Shameer ‘Joey’ Sadloo, Freddie Madray. Canada-based Guyanese Narchand ‘Archie’ Mohan, Cricket Zone and Millat Sporting Goods.
