THE Well Teen, Trophy Stall, Tropical Springs & Nauth Motor Spares-sponsored Day/Night Under-13 Cricket Tournament continued in fine style last Friday with wins for GYO and Blairmont.
In the first game, GYO beat Transport Sports Club (TSC) by four wickets.
Transport, winning the toss, opted to take first strike and made 65 runs off allotted 20 overs, Riyad Latiff and Jonathan Barton making seven each while extras accounted for 35 runs.
Bowling for GYO, Dilshan Roopnarine took 2 for 10 and Danesh Persaud took 4 for 20.
In their turn to bat, GYO made 66 in 18 overs thanks to Mavindra Dindyal who top-scored with 33 while Alvin Mohabir took 2 for 15, bowling for TSC.
In the second game, Blairmont beat DCC by 11 runs after being sent in to bat first.
The side’s 157-3 after 25 overs came from Zainul Ramsammy 52*, Jaden Trotz 31* and Shakir Saffie 20
Romeo Deonarain of DCC was the only bowler with accuracy and penetration, gathering a hat-trick for 18 runs off his allotted 5 overs.
DCC, in response, could muster only 146-7 with Inderjeet Nanan making 50.
A. Sookra picked up 3-21 while Trotz bagged 2-7, and Ramsammy 1-15 got him the man-of-the-match award.
Meanwhile Sunday’s match between Everest and GCC was not played after Everest requested it to be rescheduled.
Matches continue tomorrow with DCC taking on. Maltenooes while on Saturday, Rose Hall Sports Club oppose GYO and on Sunday, GCC will play Everest.
