Appearing before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, charged with four counts of armed robbery, were former murder accused, 20-year-old Negus Lamaizon and 22-year-old Corinth Taylor, both from D’Urban Street, Lodge.

Particulars of the charges alleged that the duo, armed with a gun on April 10, 2017 at Robb Street, robbed Daidree Liverpool of two gold chains valued $220,000; Robin Fibruce of two gold chains and cellphone valued $349,000; Lester Andrews of a cell phone valued $160,000 and Quincy Waldron of a Blu cellphone, valued $30,000.

They pleaded not guilty to the charges and were represented by Attorney-at-law, Adrian Thompson. According to Prosecutor Alwyn Moore, the duo reportedly rode up on their CG motor cycle, attacked and robbed several church members who were at a farewell party on Regent Street.

The prosecutor explained to the court that Lamaizon, who was recently freed of a murder charge almost three weeks ago, was nabbed at Springlands, East Berbice – Corentyne en-route to Suriname, in an attempt to escape the police.

The Prosecutor noted that Lamaizon was positively identified by the victims during an identification parade held by the police. Prosecutor Moore objected to bail, based on the seriousness and gravity of the offence. Bail was denied and the men were remanded until May 8, 2017.
