TEAM Coco’s Hamza Eastman recorded his fourth victory for the 2017 cycling season by winning the feature 35-lap race of the Universal Auto and General Supplies sponsored 11-race cycle programme in the National Park yesterday.
Eastman who won three previous races since the 2017 season began and placed among the top finishers in another three races, returned one hour 17 minutes .04 seconds to win yesterday’s 35-miler and in the process, won four of the eight prime prizes that were up for grabs. The other four primes were won by third place finisher Jamal John.
Paul DeNobrega placed second, Shaquile Agard fourth, Alonzo Ambrose fifth and Enzo Matthews sixth.
Eastman, John, DeNobrega and Agard broke from the pack as early as the fifth lap into the race and were never threatened. The quartet eventually lapped the field five laps later and worked in tandem to the finish.
Heading to the finish line, DeNobrega started the sprint but Eastman went on his outside and crossed the line ahead of him.
I other results, David Hicks won the boys and girls three-lap race ahead of Jonathan Rousmclet and Brandon DeNobrega respectively; Ian `Dumb Boy’ Jackson was the winner of the veterans’ under-50 five-Lap race. Second was Sybrone Fernandes and finishing third was Lennox Jackson.
Linden Blackman won the veterans’ over 50 five-lap race, while Nigel Dugid won the 10-lap race for juveniles. Second was Adealie Hodge and Briton John was third.
Jaikaran Sukhai was the winner of the five-lap event for mountain bikers and Ryan Canterbury was second.
Ajani Cutting won the BMX boys 6-9 years two-lap event ahead of Antone Vandersung and Jonathan Cox respectively.
