WORLD’S fastest man Usain Bolt acted quickly to shut down an online impersonator looking to claim charity on the sprinter’s behalf.
On Sunday a post published on social media platform Facebook, which bore the moniker Bolt Usain with photo and ‘feeling blessed’ status attached, asked fans to donate an amount of $200 000 in order to help a mother care for her sick child.
The poorly-written note, completed with several grammatical errors, proposed that the sprinter was overburdened by helping people in need and that he himself now desperately needed help.
Then real Bolt was quick to shut down the halfhearted impersonation attempt and posted the account to his official Twitter page after taking a screenshot of it and the message and, which he captioned with the word ‘Fake’.
The post was later deleted by Facebook. The real Bolt is known for being charitable and has helped several individuals in need whether through his Usain Bolt Charity or personally.
It remained unclear whether the post was being investigated by Jamaican police for attempted online fraud.
