FORMER murder accused, Sherwin Pindar was on Friday sentenced to two years imprisonment by City Magistrate Leron Daly after he admitted to armed robbery.
Pindar also known as Victor ‘Poison’ pleaded guilty to the charge which stated that on March 8, 2017 at Hadfield Street, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown, he, in the company of others, robbed Donald Cummings of $30,000 cash while being armed with a gun. It was further noted that at the time of, before, during or after the robbery, he made use of personal violence towards Cummings.
Police Prosecutor, Bharat Mangru told the court that on the day in question, the victim was walking along Hadfield Street, when he was approached and robbed by Pindar. According to the Prosecutor, Pindar choked and dealt the victim several cuffs about the body before relieving him of the cash.
The court was told that Pindar was previously charged with murder, however this matter was later dismissed by the High Court after Pindar offered compensation to the victim’s family.
In 2008, Pindar was convicted on an ammunition charge by a City Magistrate and sentenced to serve one year imprisonment.
