So far, 25 semi-finalists have already made the initial cut, and are going to go through that round of tests, as the pageant holder looks to shake things up a little in the vetting process this year.
This round comes after a number of young ladies would have already taken and passed an Online “personality test” from which this ultimate 25 were selected.

Come Sunday, these 25 girls and anyone else that qualifies, will be judged in the differing segments based on a three-point system, with one point for a poor performance, three for a satisfactory performance, and five points if they nailed it and did an excellent job.
The judges will be looking at the overall presentation, quality of skill, endurance, determination, external beauty, poise, elegance, fun improvisation, articulation of each entrant.
Applicants are to walk with gym wear, four-inch heels, and be prepared to be grilled. In addition to the aesthetic and intellectual requirement, applicants must demonstrate their willingness to make a difference in the lives of others, and must contribute to the development of Guyana.
From this, the 10 finalists will be decided, and take part in the final pageant. It will all lead up to the selection of the ultimate young lady who will get the chance to follow in the footsteps of the commanding Rafeiya Husain, the dazzling Lisa Punch, and the enchanting Nuriyyih Gerrard, who’s still reigning.
Gerrard represented this country exceptionally well at the Miss World competition last December in Washington DC, USA.
EXCEPTIONALLY WELL
Over the past few years, Guyana has been improving in their standing at the Miss World pageant, with Husain making it into the top eleven in 2014 after winning in the Beauty with a Purpose segment, and Punch winning the talent segment in 2015, which also saw her advancing into the top eleven.
The competition caters to young women interested in sports and fitness, performance arts, community development, and expressing various talents.
Franchise holder and chairwoman of the Miss World Guyana Committee, Natasha Martindale is focused on improving the entire process from a personal brand.
Miss World is the largest and longest- running international beauty pageant. Launched in 1951, it has become one of the world’s most-watched annual events worldwide, with a viewing audience of over 1 billion people.
It is the only pageant that has a Beauty with a Purpose competition, which is the name of a special annual award programme that singles out and recognises the Miss World contestant who has shown, through charitable works, to have made a real difference to people in need in her country.
The World Guyana focuses on raising money for charities, and mirroring the role and spirit of Miss World at a national level. Under new directorship since 2013, Guyana has achieved the back-to-back top 10 places, and carries Beauty with a Purpose as its flagship.
Miss World Guyana holds its annual pageant to identify young Guyanese women who exemplify beauty, talent, intelligence and compassion.
