IT was a regular Tuesday night for taxi driver, Satrohan Teeraj, until his car was hijacked by three men, armed with a gun, at Frontline Taxi Service base located at University of Guyana (UG) Access Road, Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara.

Police said the incident occurred at approximately 20:30hrs when Teeraj was approached by a man who requested a car, and as he was about to enter his silver grey Spacio motorcar, PTT 906 he was hit in the face with a gun.

Teeraj told the police that two other men joined the gunman and they entered his car and drove off with it before he could react. At the time of the incident, only the dispatcher was at the base; however he claimed that he did not witness the incident.

Teeraj reported that he was hit to the face with a gun but when the police arrived at the scene, he had no visible injuries and the doctor he visited refuse to issue a medical certificate. The taxi driver told sleuths that indeed his car was hijacked and up to press time, the location of the said vehicle remains unknown as police continue their investigations.
