THE bloated body which was found in a trench at Tarla Dam, Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara,on Monday has been positively identified.Commander of ‘D’ Division, Leslie James,on Wednesday told the Guyana Chronicle that the body is that of Danniram Jaikarran, 35, of MMZ, who was identified by his brother, Kapil Deo Jaikarran. James stated that Jaikarran’s sibling told the police he last saw his loved one alive on February 20 and is unsure of how he met his demise.

When the body was discovered,it was decomposed and was first spotted by school children, who alerted their parents after which the police were summoned. Police are investigating the circumstances under which the man died, since marks of violence were observed on the body.

This newspaper understands that Jaikarran was an alcoholic,and did odd jobs around the neighbourhood.It was also reported that he suffered from epilepsy and may have imbibed before falling into the trench.
