General Secretary of the National Association of Agricultural, Commercial and Industrial Employees (NAACIE), Kenneth Joseph died on Thursday.

This newspaper understands that Joseph suffered a stroke some three weeks ago and was a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC), when he died.

He has been at the helm of NAACIE for a number of years. President of the Guyana Trades Union Congress Norris Witter said Joseph’s passing “is a big blow to us all.”

During an interview with the Guyana Chronicle, Witter described him as “one of the veterans of the movement (and) a leader with extraordinary passion for the rights of the working people.”
