Attorney-at-Law, Leslie Sobers has been appointed Chairman of the Guyana National Broadcasting Authority (GNBA), Minister of State and Cabinet Secretary, Joseph Harmon announced on Friday.Sobers replaces former Chairman, Leonard Craig, who has been at the centre of a dispute with members of the old board.
Speaking at a post-Cabinet press briefing, Harmon said Sobers will be joined by Scheherazade Ishoof Khan, Dr Rovin Deodat, Jocelyn Josiah, Aretha Campbell and Joel Edmonds. The Opposition People’s Progressive Party (PPP) is to name its nominee to sit on the board.
The new board will serve for a period of two years from February 1, 2017 to January 31, 2019.
