England Under-19s crash to huge defeat as India clinch series

MUMBAI, India (CMC) – Bermudan all-rounder Delray Rawlins’ sparkling run of form with the bat ended yesterday as England Under-19s crashed to a huge 230-run defeat at the hands of their Indian counterparts in the fourth one-dayer at the Wankhede Stadium.Rawlins made only nine – following scores of 107 not out, 46 and 96 – as England were bundled out for 152 off 37.2 overs in reply to the hosts’ imposing 382 for nine off their 50 overs.
The left-handed Rawlins, England’s best batsman on tour, came unstuck when he mistimed a pull and was caught at mid-off leaving his side 41 for four.
Ollie Pope (59) and Will Jacks (44) offered some resistance before the innings ended in the 38th over as opening bowler Kamlesh Nagarkoti claimed four for 31 and Vivekanand Tiwari, three for 20, to do the bulk of the damage.
India were earlier underpinned by belligerent centuries from opener Shubman Gill and number three Prithvi Shaw, who took the game away from the visitors with a second-wicket stand of 231.
Rawlins, who bowls left-arm spin, took two for 78 from nine overs including the wicket of Shaw, to notch his third two-wicket haul of the series.
With the victory, India took an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match ODI series which ends tomorrow.
