The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) says it is in receipt of an allegation of rape against three of its ranks.

A statement from the GDF noted that a Board of Inquiry has since been convened to ascertain the facts and to determine whether the crime was committed. Meanwhile, the ranks are assisting the police with their investigations.

“The Guyana Defence Force remains committed to the preservation of law and order and will deal condignly with all transgressors,” the statement noted.

The GDF statement did not reveal when or where the alleged rape took place.
