FIRE on Wednesday night destroyed a house at Lima, Essequibo Coast, leaving one man homeless.According to reports, the fire started around 23:20hrs and the owner of the house was not home at the time.
Rameshwar Parasram told the Guyana Chronicle that he was awakened by heat and brightness, as a result of the fire coming from his neighbour’s house at Lima Public Road, Essequibo Coast.

He immediately drove to the Anna Regina Fire Station, which responded promptly to his report.
Parasram said he was fearful of the fire since the burnt building is located close to his house. According to him, the occupant of house had not been seen for some days prior to the fire.
After the fire damage was visible on the house gutters, windows and a tractor, which was parked in the yard under a shed.
He thanked the Guyana Fire Service and public-spirited citizens for their efforts in putting out the blaze.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
