THE young and energetic gospel group, YADAH has recently released their debut single, and already it is rocking the airwaves in the mining town of Linden. The song titled, “Your Will” was written by popular local gospel artiste Samuel Mendes, whose lyrics were beautifully vocalised by YADAH’s four members, Jévanah Chester, Judea Chester, Melissa Vandeyar and the lone male, Ronnel Gonsalves.
The song is an expression of what YADAH really means, “First level of praise”.
“The song is about being contended with where we are as Christians,” group member Ronnel Gonsalves explained.
“We want to be more than just singers: We want to be worshippers for the Kingdom; we want to be confirmed to the will of God, and through Him do ministry to the world.”
As young Christians, the quartet, despite facing the temptations of the world daily, gain strength from each other to live a clean and uplifting spiritual life, and express this through music.
“We seek to just do what it is God called us to do as youths,” Ronnel said, “and that is not only using our voices, but worshipping; being able to speak into people’s hearts through songs.
“We’re a very enthusiastic, humbled, and fun-filled bunch of young people.”

ELATED BUT HUMBLE
And though this accomplishment of theirs, of releasing their first original single, is being celebrated, yet the group remains humble as there is still much to achieve in developing the local gospel industry and putting not only Linden but Guyana on the international gospel arena.
“We’re still in the building process of getting ourselves known out there in the gospel arena,” Ronnel said, adding:
“And now that we have our first single out, we first have to give thanks to God for making it happen, and hopefully by God’s grace, soon we will have our first album done.”
Last December, the group teamed up with Antiguan Gospel singer, Mahli Benjamin to do a cover of the Christmas Carol, ‘Little Drummer Boy’.
They have also hosted several concerts in Linden, and made appearances at several gospel events countrywide. The team also did a ten-day tour of Mexico, where they performed several gospel songs.
In the next five years, the group hopes to win souls, touch hearts and mend broken spirits with their music. They also hope to make it big on the international gospel scene, doing collaborations with international gospel artistes.
“We want to be able to do the assigned task that God placed on us, and with Him, we are dear sure that we will accomplish it,” the group said in unison.
