…drugs found in Baking Powder bags, Banko wine
A SOUTH Ruimveldt resident, who served a jail term for cocaine trafficking, was once again arrested, attempting to ship cocaine to Canada recently.
The Guyana Chronicle understands that 63-year-old Dennis Jones, was arrested after he attempted to ship cocaine to Canada in baking powder bags and Banko wine bottles.
Anti-narcotics agents intercepted a box containing a total of 9 kilos in Baking / Custard powder bags and 1.62 kilos of liquid cocaine in two Banko wine bottles found in a mail destined for Canada. The package was due to leave Guyana Friday evening.
Authorities said that Jones is expected to be charged this week. CANU agents are continuing their probe to figure out if any other person may have assisted the man in one way or the other.
In December 2012, Jones, an exporter at the time, was nabbed after he tried to ship over 300 kilos of cocaine in a container of packaged soap powder to Niger Republic, in Africa. He was sentenced to four years in prison after he pleaded guilty to narcotics trafficking.
Jones of Caneview Avenue, South Ruimveldt Park, was deported to Guyana from the United States, after being convicted of conspiracy to traffic cocaine.
