A 43-year-old Brazilian National was remanded to prison Thursday by City Magistrate Judy Latchman on a drug trafficking charge.

Reginald DeCostas denied the charge which alleged that on January 18, 2017 at Cashew Grove, Lethem, he had three grams of cocaine in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Police Prosecutor, Shawn Gonsalves objected to bail on the grounds that the accused has no ties to Guyana and poses a flight risk. DeCostas was unrepresented and was remanded to prison until January 23, 2017 when he is scheduled to appear before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
