A 16-year-old boy who reportedly stabbed a sugar worker during a drinking spree at Leonora, West Coast Demerara (WCD), resulting in his death, will be charged with the capital offence, police said.Kawall Shivnauth, 37, also called “Rupee”, of Wine Bush, Leonora, WCD, was stabbed to the heart and sustained slashes to his lower abdomen and hand during an altercation with the teen on Monday.

The teenager was arrested Tuesday while hiding out in Matthew’s Ridge, North West District, Region One (Barima-Waini) where he resides.

He was preparing to travel further into the interior when the police swooped down on him.

During the argument on Monday, Shivnauth collected a bottle and struck the teenager to his forehead. The teenager reportedly walked away but after he realised that he was bleeding, he confronted Shivnauth, whipped out a knife and stabbed him.

The injured man was rushed to the Leonora Cottage Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
