Santa Cruz farmer gets bail after fracturing cousin’s skull

A FORTY-FOUR-YEAR-OLD Santa Cruz farmer was on Friday granted $75,000 bail by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan for fracturing his cousin’s skull.
Lionel Daniels, of Big Canoe, Santa Cruz Village, Moruca, pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that on November 30, 2016, at Santa Cruz Village, he unlawfully and maliciously inflicted grievous bodily harm on Vanancio Daniels.

Police prosecutor, Corporal Deniro Jones, told the court that on the day in question, the cousins were in the Santa Cruz Village consuming alcohol when an argument ensued between them.
The defendant allegedly became annoyed and dealt his cousin several lashes to his head with a piece of wood, thereby causing injury to the man.
Jones made no objection to substantial bail which was granted by the chief magistrate and the matter has been transferred to the Acquero Magistrates Court for April 4.
