AS the Amateur Swimming Association of Trinidad and Tobago (ASATT) Invitational came to a close, the Dorado Speed Swim Club team, representing Guyana, finished 11th out of 28 participants at the Invitational. For the team, the top performer was Soroya Simmons, who finished with two gold, two silver, one bronze and three ribbons en route to finishing fourth out of 26 competitors in the Women’s 15-and-Over category.
Daniel Scott swam his way to 1 silver and 2 bronze medals in addition to setting new personal bests to finish in 12th position out of 32 competitors in the Men’s 15-and-Over category. Also finishing with medals were siblings Lian and Daniel Winter.
Lian took home a bronze medal in addition to finishing 9th out of 17 competitors in the Women’s 11-12 category. In the Men’s 13-14 category, Alex finishing in the 8th position out of 22 competitors taking home 1 bronze, 1 silver, with new personal bests in the process.
Ethan Gonsalves was the other swimmer to finish in the top 10 with a position of 7th out of 12 competitors in the 9-10 Men’s category.
The credible performances with multiple personal bests and medals by the swimmers in the meet should serve to build confidence ahead of Guyana’s hosting of the Developmental Goodwill Games in 2017.
The team will return home tomorrow.
