CAMEX Restaurants Incorporated (Inc.) has introduced on the Guyana market the Pollo Tropical, a franchise which reportedly offers “mommy’s cooking”.This new franchise began operating on Sunday, December 18, on the ground floor of the seven-storey building at the corner of Robb and Camp Streets, Georgetown.
With several subsidiaries operating in Guyana, notably Church’s Chicken, Mario’s, Quiznoes and Dairy Queen, Camex says that it has brought something different to the market.
Managing Director of CAMEX Guyana Inc., Terrence Campbell, said the new franchise brings a “tropical flavour” to the Guyanese public.
Although not well-known on the Guyana market, Pollo Tropical has a lot to offer the Guyanese public, especially those who are health conscious and prefer less fatty meals.
“This franchise has moved away from fried chicken and offers grilled chicken instead… We also offer soups with eddoes, cassava and dasheen, as well as rice with beans and pork; and soon we will be offering fish and prawns,” Campbell detailed.
He said persons cannot eat the offerings of KFC, Popeyes and Royal Castle every day, so the grilled products are an innovation which should attract the attention of consumers.
Camex has been a leader in the fast food market, offering a number of outlets and branches in various parts of the country. It has most recently opened a 24-hour Church’s outlet in the Durban Street area.
According to Campbell, Camex strives to support local producers by purchasing their chicken and other needed products. “Most of our raw products are sourced locally, and we intend to continue supporting the local suppliers,” he said.
On visiting the new fast food outlet, the Guyana Chronicle was treated to top quality customer service in a spacious and cool environment.
