RESIDENTS of Moruca, Region One, officially received 37 street lights from the Ministry of Natural Resources on Saturday.Minister of Natural Resources, Raphael Trotman, along with Minister of Public Infrastructure, David Patterson, and Minister within the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs, Valerie Garrido-Lowe, met with residents for the simple handing over.

Residents of Santa Rosa were promised 15 street lights by Minister Trotman when a team from his ministry held an outreach with communities in Region One in August. Minister Trotman told the residents that he had since collaborated with the Ministry of Public Infrastructure to obtain additional lights, some of which were installed in the Kumaka community.
Minister Patterson, in brief remarks, told the residents it was his “pleasure to lend my ministry’s support in a very small way” towards meeting the needs of the people.
The lights were installed and have been serving the community for approximately two weeks. “For me, the promise is kept,” Minister Trotman told the residents.
The residents were appreciative of the Ministers’ efforts. Toshao of Santa Rosa, Sherwin Abrams, said he was pleased with the fulfillment of the minister’s commitment, and expressed gratitude on behalf of the residents. (GINA)
