FORMER editor in chief of the Trinidad and Tobago Guardian, Orin Gordon, has been appointed new head of the Caribbean for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).A seasoned media professional, Orin Gordon assumes the leadership with immediate effect, and replaces Brenda Lee Tang, who left the organisation after 15 years, eight of them at the helm. In his role as head of ACCA Caribbean, Gordon will provide strategic and visionary leadership across the region by working with partners, members, affiliates, and all stakeholders to carry on raising the ACCA presence and reputation in the region.

“Orin will support the needs of our members in the Caribbean, ensuring ACCA works to promote and support them at every opportunity (to) increase value to all ACCA stakeholders,” the ACCA said. In a brief statement on the new appointment, ACCA Director for Europe and Americas, Mark Cornell, said: “I am delighted to welcome Orin as ACCA Caribbean’s Country Head. I am confident that his enthusiasm, experience and commitment will be of great benefit to ACCA.”

Gordon says he is delighted about his selection. “(I) look forward to bringing what the ACCA does more fully to our members, partners, and to the Caribbean public at large. At a time of economic austerity, rigorous accounting standards for businesses have never been more important, therefore promoting the ACCA qualification as the premier global accounting standard is vitally important”.
