AN out-of-control motor car, PVV 5542, crashed through the fence of the Razaks’ home at Bagotstown, East Bank Demerara (EBD) at about 04:45 hrs on Friday, December 16, and flipped on its side in the yard, disturbing the peace and tranquility of the Razaks even as the family, as members of the Islamic faith, were praying at the time of the incident. When this publication visited, part of the Razacks’ fence at the side of the home was completely destroyed, while parts of the car were still lying around in the yard.
The patriarch of the home, Faizal Razak, told this publication that public-spirited citizens immediately pulled the apparently intoxicated driver from the car; and, minutes later, an ambulance arrived on scene and rushed the injured man to the hospital. The man was the only occupant of the car at the time of the incident, Razack said.

According to Faizal Razak, this is the fifth time in as many years that an out-of-control vehicle has found itself in his home. He said that Friday’s incident is the latest of many such incidents, the most famous of which had occurred on August 20th, 2011, when the driver of motor car PJJ 6704 had crashed into the upper flat of his home. That driver also had lost control of his vehicle on that occasion, and it had ploughed through the fence and rode up a small mound, from which it had literally flown through the air into the upper living room of the premises.
He said Friday’s incident occurred at a similar time to when the most famous incident had occurred — when the family was praying. And Mrs. Razak added: “Is mostly on Fridays this thing happening.”
Residents told this publication that the sharpness of the turn, coupled with the driver apparently being intoxicated, contributed to this incident occurring. They suggested that the pavement in the vicinity of the house be raised, or a barrier be erected to protect persons living in the area from speeding motorists.
