Tucville to face Sparta Boss in final of Georgetown leg
TUCVILLE and Sparta Boss have booked their places in the final of the 2016/2017 edition of the Guinness Greatest in the Streets football tournament. Following the semi-final rounds on Tuesday evening both the defending champions Sparta and their newfound challengers Tucville had almost similar paths to the next round.
In the first game, Tucville needled the Broad Street Bullies through their continued saviour Leon Richardson.
That game was not short of chances and close shots, but the Tucville side were able to convert when it mattered.
Sparta Boss, on the other hand, were on show with a 2-1 win against last year’s runners-up Back Circle.
Two quick-fire strikes from Solomon Austin (19th) and Courtney Britton (21st) cancelled out the earlier own goal that gave Back Circle the lead in the 7th minute.
The final will be played tomorrow at the National Park.
The winners of the leg will cart off $500 000, second-placers $200 000, third-placers $150 000 and fourth-placers $75 000.
There are also legs billed for the West Coast Demerara, West and East Coast Berbice, Linden and Bartica. (Stephan Sookram)
