Kwakwani beat Milerock 2-0, Botafago blow out Blueberry Hill 3-1

KWAKWANI Strikers struck back to remain in contention by beating Milerock 2-0 while Botafago got their campaign rolling with a second defeat of Blueberry Hill with a 2-0 score, when play in the Upper Demerara Football Association’s (UDFA) GT Beer Christmas football championship entered day three Thursday night at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground.
Following their opening loss against last year’s runner-up side Silver Shattas, Kkwakwani showed their experience against the Milerock team, with goals coming on either side of play, when Keshawn Phillips netted in the 18th minute and Kurt Simon in the 53rd minute in their group game.

The second game ended with Botafago scoring a 3-1 win as Kellon Primo got a double in the 19th and 56th minutes and the other goal being scored by Jevon LeFleur in the 71st minute.
The experienced Renee Gibbons, coach/player for the Blueberry Hill team showed his poise to get their lone goal in the 21st minute.
The championship continues tonight when Winners Connection, the defending champions who began their three year defence with a 3-0 blotting out of Blueberry Hill,comes up against Hi Stars. Hi Stars are a confident bunch, having won their first match 3-1 against Amelia’s Ward Panthers
