NIGHT two of the Guinness Greatest of the Streets came to a close on Thursday night with eight teams emerging victorious from their matchups.
In the first game, Up Like 7 defeated Alexander Village 3-2 in a game that finished with sudden-death kicks. In regular time the score read 2-2 with Mark Carrega and Dwayne Lowe scoring in the 7th and 18th minutes for the UP Like 7 side. For Alexander Village Gerald King and Kevin Gordon scored in the 3rd and 20th minutes.
In Game Two, North Ruimveldt edged Jamoon Drive by one goal through Nkosie Barker in minute 26, being the separator between the two sides. Albouystown-A team won on penalty kicks. They beat Upsetters 2-0 after the game finished 0-0 in regulation.
Game Four saw Broad Street Bullies definitely bully their Howes Street opponents. Lennox Cort, Rocky Gravesande and Devon Johnson all scored for the Bullies in the 6th, 7th, and 17th minutes of the one-sided match.
Also winning on penalty kicks and sudden-death kicks were the North East La Penitence side who knocked off Island All-Stars-B 2-0 on penalties and Alboustown-B who defeated West Back Road 2-1.
In the final games of the night, Stevedore and Back Circle emerged victorious after defeating opponents West Front Road and East Front Road respectively.
For Stevedore it was a well-deserved win. Dorwin Filter found the net for them in the 17th minute and when Michael Pedro equalised for West Front Road in the 28th minute, Keifer Brandt nudged the team in front seconds later in the same minute to give Stevedore the win. Meanwhile Back Circle finished 1-0 courtesy of Jermin Beckles.
Eight matches will continue today from 19:00hrs at the Burnham Court with Camp Street All-Stars taking on Stevedore, Festival City matching up against Up Like 7, North Ruimveldt facing West Back Road and Leopold Street squaring off against North East La Penitence.
After the break, matches will resume at 21:00hrs with Back Circle versus Tucville, Bent Street against Broad Street Ballers, Sparta Boss facing Channel 9 and Queen Street Tiger Bay challenging Albouystown A at 22:30hrs.
