GFF/NAMILCO Football

Final two of round one matches billed for Saturday

THE remaining two matches in the East Bank Demerara leg of the Guyana Football Federation/NAMILCO Thunderbolt Flour Power National Under-17 League will be played on Saturday at the Grove Playfield.
In the opening fixture fixed for a 13:00hrs start, sixth-placed Diamond United will tackle fourth-placed Circuit Valley Jaguars, while the feature game will see Kuru Kururu Warriors battle against Agricola Red Triangle from 15:00hrs.

It is expected that both matches will be keenly contested as a win for the third-placed Warriors and fourth-placed Jaguars will propel them both to 16 points, eight points shy of league leaders Grove Hi Tech who played unbeaten in their eight matches and have accumulated 24 points at the end of round one.
Should both the Warriors and Jaguars come out victorious in their respective fixtures, both teams will earn three points and the second-place spot will have to be decided on the better goal difference.
At the moment, Warriors have a plus 13 goal difference while Jaguars have a plus four.
On the other hand, Warriors and Jaguars’ respective opponents – fifth-placed Agricola and sixth-placef Diamond United – will be seeking wins to boost their morale.
At the moment, Agricola have 12 points with a goal difference of minus two and Diamond are on 10 points with a minus six goal difference.
The second round of the league will start during the month of January 2017, minus two teams that were part of the first round.

The two teams are Friendship and Mocha Champs.
Friendship had signalled their intention to participate in the league but never made a single appearance for their eight fixtures, while Mocha Champs only showed up for one match which they won and secured three points.
The East Bank Football Association executive has since taken a decision to drop both teams for the second round.
Meanwhile, Grove Hi-Tech closed out the first round with their eighth consecutive win from as many matches with a 2-0 win against CV Jaguars last Saturday.
