IT was all smiles and jubilation for St Angela’s Primary as they successfully defended their title and in the process became back-to-back champions of the Petra/ COURTS Pee-Wee football competition.Playing in yesterday’s final at the Banks DIH Thirst Park ground,the defending champions St Angela’s Primary needled their St. Agnes opponents 1-0 to cart off the title, despite a valiant effort from the opposition who skewed wide of the goal on several occasions.
Seon Cato’s 12th minute strike was enough to give his side the goal it needed to take the win.

Speaking after the game, Guyana Football Federation President Wayne Forde stated that the body has successfully hosted another tournament which is in keeping with the federation’s best interest.
Also present at the event was title sponsors COURTS through Finance Director Neil Boucher who indicated that the body will be on board in 2017 for the event as they continue to see the benefits of tournaments of this nature.
In the third-place play-off, West Ruimveldt needled St. Pius 1-0 through Kenneth Gordon’s 24th minute strike.
In the 5-8 play off, Marian Academy beat North Georgetown 6-5 on sudden-death kicks as they were both 1-1 at the end of regulation time with Nicholas Verwey (Marian Academy) cancelling out Shaquan Walters 7th minute strike.
Meanwhile, St. Stephens’s beat F.E. Pollard 2-1 on penalty kicks as they settled for 7th and 8th place respectively.
Winfer Gardens took ninth after they beat St Margarets 4-0 with strikes from Orlando Dickie (4th, 10th and 30th) as well as Calvin Bowling (23rd) while Stella Maris needled Tucville through Fedel Norville,to be placed 11th and 12th respectively.
Meanwhile, South Ruimveldt’s 2 goals through Gordanny George (12th) and Antonio Leitch (40th) accounted for the 13th spot against Redeemer who finished 14th while Mae’s beat St Gabriel’s 1-0 to finish 15th and 16th respectively
