Man charged with wounding drinking partner

 

LINTAN Lucas appeared before City Magistrate Leron Daly McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court Tuesday charged with unlawful wounding.According to the charge, Lucas unlawfully and maliciously wounded Randy Smith causing him grievous bodily harm.

The incident is alleged to have occurred on October 26, at Kwebanna Village, North West Maruca and the unrepresented Lucas pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Police Prosecutor, Corporal Bharat Mangru strongly opposed the accused being released on bail since he is was not from Georgetown and the offence had occurred in the North West District.

Lacus was remanded to prison and the matter transferred to the Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan for November 10.

According to reports, on the day in question both the virtual complainant (VC) and the accused were at a shop in Kewebanna Village consuming alcohol when an argument ensued. Lucas became annoyed; picked up the VC and slammed him to the ground. Smith sustained serious head injuries and was rushed to the hospital.
