The Guyana Amateur Weightlifting Association (G.A.W.A.) yesterday received a quantity of weightlifting gear and equipment from its parent body, the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF).According to a release from the GAWA, the move is another effort to further the Association’s agenda and to promote the sport locally.
Further, Guyana has received a special invitation from the Barbados Weightlifting Association, in recognition of our 50th anniversary observances, to participate in a Special 50 Anniversary Tournament.
On that note, the GAWA will be staging a lift-off on Wednesday the 9th November at the Michael Parris Fitness Centre in the National Park from 17:00hrs.
This is to shortlist the team that will be representing Guyana at the Barbados 50th anniversary weightlifting championship, scheduled for November 24th to 28th.
