THE Guyana Amateur Swimming Association will remain under the presidency of Ivan Persaud following its elections held yesterday at Olympic House on High Street.Persaud was in a three way race; running against Owen Vewey of GO-Invest and Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) Vice President Karen Pilgrim.
However, both Vewey and Pilgrim pulled out of the race. Pilgrim cited her new responsibilities as Guyana’s representative for the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) as a reason for her pulling out. Dewey has not given any reason for his decision.
There are some changes with Nadira Jaikaran from Swim Academy being elected secretary. The other committee members include Dave Ramnarine and Elke Rodrigues as the Association’s Vice Presidents.
Joanne Lowe Is Treasurer while Leon Seaton is the Assistant Secretary/Treasurer.
Persaud remains president of GASA
