THE police have recovered a motor car and two of five cellphones which were stolen when bandits attacked a Berbice businessman Tuesday evening at New Amsterdam, Berbice. In a release, the police said a prompt response from ranks in New Amsterdam, following a report of a robbery under arms at Overwinning, East Bank Berbice, led to the recovery of the victim’s motor car and two of the five cellphones allegedly stolen.
The 49-year-old businessman had reported being robbed by three men, two of whom were armed.
The businessman, who sells GTT and Digicel phone cards, had just returned home in his motor car when the suspects pounced, relieved him of his motor car, two laptops, his phones and a quantity of phone cards; after which he alerted the police who responded.
The suspects have not yet been apprehended.
