THE case involving an Assistant Superintendent of Police who caused the death of a 65-year-old female resident of Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara last Tuesday will be reviewed by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), according to a senior police officer.
Anmanie Deonarine of 144 New Road, Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara was, on October 4, 2016, struck down and killed on the village public road by a motor car driven by the police officer. The incident occurred when the mother of three was a few houses away from her home.
The driver of the car, PRR 4446, was identified as Assistant Superintendent Jermaine Grant of the Criminal Investigation Department, who is stationed within ‘D’ Division (West Demerara and East Bank Essequibo).
The officer was reportedly driving in a westerly direction when he lost control of the vehicle, and it collided with the elderly woman. She was rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
