ONE hundred and forty-four cases, including 54 murders are listed for hearing at the October Criminal Session which opens today at the Demerara Assizes.Judges assigned to the session are Justices James Bovell-Drakes, Roxanne George and Jo-Ann Barlow.

Justice George is assigned to hear 30 murders, five manslaughters, seven carnal knowledge and 20 rape cases.

Justice Bovell-Drakes is assigned to 11 murders, two manslaughters, 16 carnal knowledge and 20 rape cases, while Justice Barlow is expected to handle 13 murders, three manslaughters, 10 carnal knowledge and 14 rape cases.
