TWO prisoners attached to the Lusignan Prison on the East Coast of Demerara escaped from the facility on Monday after they had been taken to do work on the prison’s farm.The Guyana Chronicle tried unsuccessfully to contact Director of Prisons Carl Graham on the matter, but a News Source article said the escapees have been identified as Sayouse Shakir, 26, from the Essequibo Coast; and Rajindra Deonarine, 23, of East Coast Demerara.

The Lusignan Prison houses offenders of less serious crimes. Both the Guyana Police Force and the Guyana Prison Service have launched a search for the two men.
