THE Guyana Beach Football Association (GBFA) yesterday announced a 17-man squad to go into weekly training in preparation for next year’s CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers to be staged in Miami.The players selected by the GBFA will be under the guidance of the appointed head coach Abdullah Hamid and his assistant Dillon Roberts, every Sunday from 15:00hrs, while there will be a one-week encampment leading up to the departure date for the January 29 to February 5 qualifiers.
President of the GBFA, Rollin Tappin, in an invited comment informed Chronicle Sport that meetings with the Director of Sport and the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) last week, pertaining to assistance for the Guyana’s debut participation, were very fruitful.
The GBFA head is expected to travel to Miami, along with another official, for a workshop and the draw for the groups in the qualifying competition to be held on October 17.
The full training squad named: Cordell Johnson, Rodwyn Fraser, Michael Wilson, Keon Sears, Kellon Major, Ethan Spartan, Jamal Haynes, Tony Gilbert, Travis Bess, Jermaine Grandison, Marvin Sullivan, Kenard Simon, Tshekederi Whitehead, Deon Tyrell, Gishawn Moore, Trevorn Archibald and DeShawn Joseph.
The final team of12 players to represent Guyana at the qualifiers will be selected at the end of next month.
