THE badly decomposed body of Verona Franklin, 86, of Fyrish Village, East Berbice, Corentyne, was discovered in her home on Saturday.The pensioner, who lived alone, was reportedly seen two day before by neighbours. On Saturday afternoon neighbors called relatives after a pungent scent was noticeably emanating from her residence.

Relatives sensing something wrong rushed to the home and alerted police after discovering her dead.

According to a police source, a grandson went into the house and discovered the badly decomposed body of the woman in her bedroom.

It is believed she died of natural causes. Due to the state of decomposition, the body was removed early Sunday morning and buried immediately.
