THE Guyana Beach Football Association (GBFA) will this afternoon stage the first ever trials to select a National Beach football squad to begin preparations for the CONCACAF preliminary World Cup qualification,set for Florida early next year.Appointed Head Coach, Abdullah Hamid and his Technical team will select a squad of 20 players from the trials which begin at 15:00 hrs today at the Bay Rock Beach Soccer facility in Wismar.
The GBFA has invited 25 players from the inaugural 12-team national league,which was played earlier in the year, to participate in the trials in order to gain selection on the 12-man team that will be travelling to the USA.
The players who will be on show today are: Royal Youths – Shane Luckie, Shaquille Fraser, Marvin Sullivan and Tshekedri Whitehead; Silver Bullets – Tony Gilbert, Gishawn Freeman, Kellon Major and Michael Wilson; Cool Runnings – Jermaine Grandson, Keon Sears, Deon Charter, Kennard Simon, Travis Bess and Rodwyn Fraser, KK Warriors – Rayan Scott, Cordel Johnson and Ethan Sparman; Attention Family – Trevorn Archabol, Jamal Haynes and Jahshawn Moore; Hi Stars – Michael Peters and Leonard Peters; Spartaboss – Sheldon Sheppard; Alexander Village – Randolph Wagner and from NC, Deshawn Joseph.
The 20-man squad will continue preparation training at the Bay Rock facility every Sunday leading up to the competition to be played next year between January 29th and February 5th.
