Puruni small miners say being forced out by big concessionaire

Dear Editor,
WE, the small miners at Puruni are very unhappy over the situation in the area.We spend a lot of time prospecting work-ground and when we find payable places we are being forced out.
The big landowners in the area stopped all work over two weeks now in Sauri, Granny, and Chiney. We cannot work and we have home bills to pay and we have to pay for excavators at the bank and the dealers. Over 50 excavators got stop- work orders in Puruni, thereby affecting over 100 dredges.
They are telling us now that if we want to start back we have to pay $2 million, then seven ounces of gold every month. This is not economical. We think this is unfair because we found the gold and developed the place.
We are asking for somebody to intervene for us.
We cannot talk openly or we get special attention and we won’t have land nor money to fall back on.
We are asking for help now, because nobody is looking out for the small miners.
