A CANJE Creek farmer is assisting Berbice police with their investigations following the discovery of four kilograms of compressed marijuana and live cartridges at a house at Brotherson Village, Canje river.
On July 19, last, during a surprise raid, sleuths travelled to the riverain community in their motorised vessel, where, in the vicinity of the Brotherson pump station, an occupant from a nearby house fled into the densely forested lands, after seeing the cops.
After surrounding the building, and checking within, the plain clothes officers, accompanied by a uniformed rank, discovered dried compressed portions of the illegal marijuana plants along with 11 live 12 gauge ammunitions. The items were taken to the Central Police Station where the narcotic was weighed and lodged.
However, Wednesday morning, the suspect, accompanied by his lawyer Charrandas Persaud, visited the Reliance Police Station, where he remains in police custody, as cops continue their investigations.
