CHAIRMAN of the National Sports Commission, Ivan Persaud, issued his congratulations to both the Male and Female Guyana teams, which took part in this year’s Caribbean Basketball Confederation U-16 Championships, staged earlier this month, at the newly refurbished Cliff Anderson Sports Hall. ”The teams performed well, with special credit to the male teams who qualified for the FIBA Centro Basket” Persaud stated.
He commended the females for their efforts at the Championships, stating that despite them not qualifying for the Centro Basket Championships, the experience was something that would take their game to another level.
He also commended the hosting of the championships by the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF), coaching staff of the teams, as well as all personnel involved in the games.
“Special thanks must be given to the sponsors who played a role in what made the entire event such a success,” added Persaud.
He finished by stating that with the successful hosting of the Junior CBC tournament, there will be an increased effort made to host the senior version of the tournament in 2017.
