A FIFTY – year – old resident of Amelia’s Ward, Linden on Wednesday evening became the latest suicide victim of the mining town. Dead is Walter Layne, of 5175 Central Amelia’s Ward, who was found hanging from an electrical wire from the ceiling of his home around 20:30hrs. He was discovered by his 18 – year – old son Trevor Layne, who had just returned from church. The younger Layne cut the wire and took his father down before informing relatives.
According to Police Inspector Chabanaugh Singh, who is attached to the Mackenzie Police Station, there were no signs of foul play. According to a relative, the man was suffering from a thyroid infection and was also recently fired from Rusal.
His son revealed to police that lately, his father had been speaking strangely, warning them that they will no longer see him. A post-mortem is expected to be conducted soon. Walter Layne leaves to mourn his wife Carla Layne and four children. This is the second case of suicide that has rocked Linden for the year. Less than two months ago, 25 – year – old Tabitha Small leaped to her death from the Wismar Mackenzie Bridge.
